Professional Experience
Jillian Rotman is a versatile attorney whose practice focuses primarily on family law and criminal defense. A lifelong resident of the Philadelphia area, Jillian graduated from The Episcopal Academy and earned her Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Ursinus College, where she graduated summa cum laude and was a class salutatorian. While at Ursinus, she was a student-athlete competing in collegiate indoor and outdoor track and field, was inducted into Psi Chi, the International Honor Society in Psychology, and was a member of Ursinus College Hillel.
Jillian received her Juris Doctor from Villanova University Charles Widger School of Law, where she was a Dean’s Merit Scholar and Co-President of the Family Law Society. She was recognized for her legal writing skills as the recipient of the Second-Best Appellate Brief in the 64th Annual Theodore L. Reimel Moot Court Competition. During law school, she served as a student attorney representing clients in immigration matters, held multiple research assistant positions, and worked as a legal extern in the pro bono department of the Animal Legal Defense Fund. Jillian has a strong passion for animal law and nonprofit work dedicated to animal rescue and welfare and actively seeks cases involving animal law issues.
Her experience also includes a judicial externship in the Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas, Criminal Division, along with roles as a law clerk and intake specialist at a prominent plaintiff-side personal injury firm. In her final year of law school as an extern, and then as an attorney, Jillian worked for a reputable law firm in Collegeville, Pennsylvania, where she handled a wide range of civil litigation, criminal defense, and family law matters.
Jillian later branched off with her colleagues to build Johnson Starling & Rotman, where she continues to develop a dynamic practice, drawing on her broad litigation background to advocate effectively for her clients.
