Brandeis Executive Committee Member Michael Berkowitz changes firms
Volpe and Koenig, P.C., is pleased to announce that Michael J. Berkowitz has joined the firm as a shareholder.
Michael brings substantial experience in all aspects of intellectual property law, including the preparation and prosecution of domestic and foreign patents, trademarks, and copyrights; the litigation of patent, trademark, trade dress, trade secret, unfair competition, copyright, domain name, and contractual matters; and the counseling of clients in intellectual property opinion, and transactional matters. He has represented both U.S. and global companies, as well as individuals, in a wide range of intellectual property litigation and prosecution matters. He also has extensive experience in litigating matters involving Abbreviated New Drug Applications (ANDA) under the Hatch-Waxman Act for generic pharmaceutical companies.
Most recently a partner with Caesar Rivise, Michael brings a broad technological background in the mechanical, electrical, manufacturing systems, and medical device arts. He offers significant experience in representing clients in reexamination and reissue proceedings before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office and has represented clients before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board.
With more than 25 years of experience, Michael has served in leadership roles with several professional and community organizations including the Philadelphia Bar Association where he served on the Board of Governors and served as founding co-chair of its Intellectual Property Committee. He served as a co-Director of the Bar Associations Charity Run and is a past Chancellor of the Louis D. Brandeis Law Society.
Michael earned his law degree from Widener University School of Law and holds a B.S. in Industrial Engineering from Lehigh University. Prior attending law school, he was an engineer with the Space Systems Division of the General Electric Company in King of Prussia, PA.
